If you have 2 keys that the vehicle recognizes it knows you are an authorized user and will allow you to program in up to 8 additional keys, however if you have only 1 key or no key then the security system has to cleared and reprogrammed with the use of special diagnostic tools ( a well equipped garage or locksmith will have these tools). The keys sold by locksmiths are not the same as the OEM keys and YES the dealer will know LOL (Caution: I have seen a high failure rate for non OEM keys with the transponder chip not programming in or failing suddenly after being programmed, if you buy non OEM keys have them programmed and TEST them before you pay for them!)
References :
Over 20 years at a Ford dealership

Instead of the Rube Goldberg approach, why not drive the car to a locksmith, buy the key from said locksmith, have said locksmith cut the key, and then have said locksmith program the key. One stop, 15-20 minutes of your time, and all done. About $50-$60 dollars total.

Ford dealers are not idiots. They can tell OEM keys from aftermarket and 10 times out of 10, they won't program a key unless it is from their inventory. Neither will most locksmiths. Liability, you know.
References :
We program Ford Transponder keys here.Charlotte Locksmith can program a second key on the spot for $85 We have never had a problem with chip failure with our keys. If you have two keys then you can program the third one in yourself or come by and we can do that also for $50 for the key.
